After an overwhelmingly busy few months, I’m finally back to updating this site.
We were so fortunate to have Dan Compton, Fran Slefer, Bryan Owens, and Nina Lane here with us on November 22nd. They played Celtic and World Music featuring guitar, fiddle, tenor banjo, mandolins, button accordion, bouzouki, clarinet and vocals. And it was a stellar concert.
The year finished out with Carl Thor and Jennifer Pratt-Walter, featuring Celtic harp, hammer dulcimer, tin whistle, recorder, vocals and piano. I was mightily surprised that so many people showed up on December 13th, when normally the holiday rush takes over. This, too, was an awesome concert.
Even though I no longer play the hammer dulcimer – and it IS for sale if you are looking for a gently used starter model – I hosted the hammer dulcimer jam at my house on January 24th. We had a good turnout and fun was had by all. This jam is open to ALL instruments if you’d ever like to join in or just come over to listen. We currently have 3 homes in which the jams take place on a rotational basis in Lake Oswego, West Linn and Portland.
***LOOKING AHEAD THIS YEAR*** – house concerts will be predominantly outdoors during the summer months. If you have suggestions of performing artists or are one yourself, please contact me. I’m looking at 1 to 2 concerts a month from approximately June – October, weather permitting.
MANY THANKS to the awesome musicians and audience members who, during our first year in 2014, helped fulfill the mission of “community through music”. We sang, clapped, danced, listened, applauded, performed, dined and laughed together. And it just doesn’t get any better than that!
